Inspection Policy — Please Read
Sealed items must stay sealed
If an item is in a sealed or factory-sealed box, you may not open, cut, or tamper with the packaging. You are welcome to view the outside of the box, read labels, and check for damage to the packaging itself.
Unboxed items can be inspected freely
For items that are not in sealed packaging — such as loose items, open-box products, or display models — you are welcome to pick them up, inspect them closely, and check their condition, functionality, and cosmetics.
Handle with care
Please handle all items carefully and return them to their original location on the shelf when you're done. If you need help, our staff is always happy to assist.
Step-by-Step Inspection Process
Follow these 5 steps to inspect items before you place a bid.
Find an Item You Want to Inspect
Browse active auctions on BidBolt and find an item you'd like to see in person. On the auction details page, look for the "Warehouse Location" section in the Item Details tab.
You'll see two important pieces of information:
- Tracking ID — a unique code (e.g.,
ABC-1001) printed on the item's label in the warehouse - Bin Location — the aisle, shelf, and bin where the item is stored (e.g.,
Aisle 3, Shelf B, Bin 12)
Visit Our Warehouse
Come to our warehouse during regular open hours — no appointment needed for inspections.
Let the staff at the front know you're here to inspect items before bidding. They'll point you in the right direction.
Locate Items by Tracking ID
Use the Tracking ID and Bin Location from the auction details page to find the item on our warehouse shelves. Each item has a printed label with its tracking ID attached.
You can also use our Item Locator tool to scan a tracking ID barcode or type one in to see the item's exact shelf location and whether it's available for inspection.
Note: Some items may be temporarily unavailable for inspection if they are already pending pickup by another customer. The Item Locator will show you the item's current status.
Inspect the Item
Once you've located the item, you can inspect it according to our policy:
Unboxed / Open-box items
Pick them up, look them over, check for scratches, dents, missing parts — inspect them however you need.
Sealed / Factory-sealed items
You can view the box, read labels, and check packaging condition — but do not open or cut the seal. Items must remain in their sealed state.
When you're finished inspecting, please return the item to its original spot on the shelf.
Place Your Bid with Confidence
After your inspection, head home (or bid right from the warehouse!) and place your bid on BidBolt with full confidence in the item's condition.
Go to the auction page, enter your bid amount, and let BidBolt handle the rest. You'll be notified if you're outbid or when you win.
Bid with confidence!
You've seen the item in person — no surprises.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment to inspect items?
No — inspections are walk-in only during regular warehouse hours. No appointment or check-in is needed.
Why can't I open sealed boxes?
Sealed packaging preserves the item's value and condition for all bidders. Opening a sealed box would reduce the item's value and wouldn't be fair to the eventual buyer. Our product photos and descriptions provide as much detail as possible for sealed items.
What if the item I'm looking for isn't on the shelf?
Some items may be temporarily unavailable if they're pending pickup by another customer who already won the auction. Use the Item Locator tool to check availability before visiting. If you believe there's an error, ask staff for help.
Can I test electronic items?
For unboxed electronics, you can inspect the physical condition. Power testing is generally not available on the warehouse floor, but staff may be able to assist with larger items on a case-by-case basis.
Is there a time limit for inspections?
There's no strict time limit, but please be considerate of other customers. If you're inspecting multiple items, take your time — we just ask that you return each item to its spot when you're done.
Can I place a bid while I'm at the warehouse?
Absolutely! Pull up the auction on your phone and bid right from the warehouse floor. Many customers do exactly this.
